A New Economic Development Initiative

Mark Maldonado at HCD also provided me with some breaking news. HCD is organizationally combining the Enterprise Zone program with its CDBG (Community Development Block Grant Program) to create the new "State Enterprise and Economic Development Section" of HCD of which Mark will be the director. They are going to refer to it as "SEEDS" and hope that it will bring new focus to economic development in the State. Mark assured me that he remains the Enterprise Zone program manager as well. This sounds like a good move and I hope Mark gets the resources he needs to make things happen.
