Incredible ... Enterprise Zone Attracts A Business

Hold the presses, a company has decided to move to California:

Asian firm Stockton-bound: STOCKTON - Here's something you don't hear much these days - an Asian manufacturer opening a plant in this country.... M. Najeeb, Central Spring's president and chief executive officer, said from his Fremont office that the company wanted a U.S. location well-located to the two auto plants that use its parts. And, he added: "It's a very good location for transportation." Najeeb also cited the benefits of the Stockton-San Joaquin Enterprise Zone.

The Stockton Enterprise Zone is in the district served by State Senator Mike Machado who was recently quoted in the Contra Costa Times as saying:

"I have concerns right now with a program with no demonstrated payback that depletes the state's revenues."

and

"Instead of attracting new business into an area, we end up with businesses already there taking advantage of additional benefits."
