Fresno Bee Legislative Update

E.J. Schultz has an update in the Fresno Bee on legislative issues in the Capitol. Included is this update regarding Enterprise Zones:

One of Arambula's major initiatives is reforming the state program, which is designed to spark economic growth in designated areas by giving companies tax breaks for hiring disadvantaged workers. The Assembly Committee on Jobs, Economic Development and the Economy, which Arambula heads, issued 46 recommendations, including some that would refocus the program to serve a neighborhood's neediest residents.

Arambula wants to insert the recommendations into a bill that already passed a Senate committee. Negotiations continue, and a hearing could occur in mid-May.

I suspect he is referring to AB 1766.

Update: According to what I learned at the CAEZ board meeting last week, the idea is to insert the recommendations into SB 1008. That bill has not only passed a Senate committee, but has already passed the Senate floor.
