Enterprise Zone Investigating Controller Candidate Loses

Joe Dunn, a Democratic candidate for State Controller who ran on a platform of auditing the Enterprise Zone program, lost in yesterday's primary election. Ok, so perhaps it's too much to say that the Enterprise Zones were his main agenda, but it certainly appeared in a lot of news articles chronicling the race. For example here, here, and in the San Jose Mercury News where one out of just two paragraphs about Dunn was:
Campaign focus: Dunn says he will focus on the office's auditing responsibility and will immediately look into enterprise zones, which were set up to promote business in economically depressed areas by giving tax breaks. He also will put an emphasis on returning unclaimed property to taxpayers.
In other election news, the Field Poll had predicted the lowest turnout ever in a California election. How much were they predicting? 34%. It looks like a record smashing less than 28% actually showed up.
