Ball Bailing?

TheBizPress.com, the online home of The Business Press ("Inland Southern California's Business Newspaper"), reports on the effect that Enterprise Zone policy uncertainty is having on businesses. Ernie Ball, a guitar string maker, is one of Hal Joseph's favorite success stories in the Coachella Valley EZ. But The Business Press is reporting on Ball's interest in leaving California:
Ball had planned to move a remaining 125-employee San Luis Obispo operation to the Coachella property, but "its next home won't be in California," he said. The company has a six-month backlog of orders, needs high-tech workers and a place to expand, but without zone tax incentives, the area is too expensive, he said.
There is quite a bit of additional interesting detail in the article. The Legislature needs to consider the impact of ongoing uncertainty on the State's economic development plan.

Update: Some additional information here.
