Zone Anticipation - Merced

The Merced Sun-Star has this article describing their anticipation of new zone designation. We are all expecting to hear the results today, I'm sure our friends at HCD are feeling the pressure.

The question of whether or not Merced County will be given permission to have a countywide enterprise zone was on the minds of many attendees at Thursday's Merced Regional Manufacturing Summit.

Held at UC Merced, the event brought together about 72 members of the business community and city officials to network and share information about expanding the county's investment opportunities.

Organized by the Merced County Economic Development Corp. (MCEDCO), the event began with an update on the county's recent application to establish an enterprise zone.

State Department of Housing and Community Development officials are expected to render a decision on the application today.
